HTML Entity Encoder
Convert special characters like < > & " into HTML entities so they display safely.
Runs in your browser — your data never leaves your device.
About the HTML Entity Encoder
To show code or user text inside a web page without the browser treating it as HTML, special characters must be written as entities — < becomes < and & becomes &.
You can also encode every non-ASCII character (é, —, ©, emoji, Urdu) as named entities like © or numeric ones like ©, useful for old systems that cannot handle UTF-8.
How to use the HTML Entity Encoder
- Paste your text or HTML.
- Choose whether to encode only the five special characters or all non-ASCII characters too.
- Copy the encoded result.
How it works
& → &, < → <, > → >, " → ", ' → '. Other characters above code 126 are written as a named entity when one is common (for example ©, —), otherwise as &# + the Unicode code point + ;.
Examples
<p>Tom & Jerry</p>→<p>Tom & Jerry</p>© 2026(all characters, named) →© 2026
Frequently asked questions
Is my text sent to your server?
No. Everything runs in your browser, on your own device. Nothing you type or paste is uploaded or stored.
Do I need to encode Urdu text?
Not on modern websites that use UTF-8 — Urdu displays as it is. Encode only the five special characters unless an old system requires otherwise.
