Image Compressor
Reduce JPG, PNG and WebP file size with adjustable quality and optional resizing.
PNG is a lossless format, so “Same as original” can only shrink it a little. Choose JPG or WebP for big savings.
Runs in your browser — your data never leaves your device.
About the Image Compressor
Make images smaller so they upload faster, fit form size limits, load quickly on websites and take less space on your phone. Most photos can lose 60–80% of their size with no visible difference.
You control the quality, can set a maximum width for very large photos, and can convert to WebP for the smallest files. The tool never gives you a file bigger than the original.
How to use the Image Compressor
- Set the Quality (75% is a good start) and, if you like, a Max width such as 1920 px.
- Choose an Output format: keep the original, JPG, or WebP for the smallest size.
- Drop your images. Each one shows its old and new size.
- Download images one by one or click Download all. Change settings and click Re-compress to try again.
How it works
JPG and WebP use lossy compression: lower quality removes fine detail that the eye barely notices, giving smaller files. Reducing the width also cuts file size roughly with the square of the scale — half the width is about a quarter of the pixels.
PNG is lossless, so re-saving a PNG as PNG rarely helps; converting it to JPG or WebP usually gives big savings (transparent areas become white in JPG).
Examples
- A 4.2 MB phone photo at 75% quality and max width 1920 px → about 350–500 KB.
- A 900 KB PNG screenshot converted to WebP at 80% → typically under 150 KB.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, on your own device. Your images are never sent to our server.
How do I compress an image to under 100 KB or 200 KB?
Lower the quality step by step and set a max width (for example 1200 px), then click Re-compress until the size shown is under your limit.
Will compression reduce quality?
At 70–80% most people cannot see a difference. Below about 50% you may notice blur or blocky areas.
Why did my PNG barely shrink?
PNG is already lossless. Choose JPG or WebP as the output format to make it much smaller.
