About the Cron Expression Explainer

Cron schedules automated jobs on servers and hosting panels such as cPanel and Hostinger. Its five-field format is easy to get wrong. Type an expression to read it in plain English and see exactly when it will next run.

How to use the Cron Expression Explainer

  1. Type or paste a cron expression, or click an example.
  2. Read the explanation and the next run times.

How it works

Fields: minute (0–59), hour (0–23), day of month (1–31), month (1–12 or JAN–DEC), day of week (0–7 or SUN–SAT; 0 and 7 are Sunday). * means every value, */15 every 15th, 1-5 a range and 1,3 a list. When both day fields are restricted, the job runs when either matches (standard cron behaviour).

Examples

  • */30 * * * * → every 30 minutes.
  • 0 9 * * 1-5 → 9:00 am, Monday to Friday.
  • 0 3 1 * * → 3:00 am on the first day of every month.

Frequently asked questions

Which time zone does my server use?

Cron uses the server's time zone, which is often UTC. The next run times here are shown in your own time zone.

Is my data sent to your server?

No. Everything runs in your browser, on your own device. Nothing you type, paste or choose is uploaded or stored.
