About the Unix Timestamp Converter

A Unix timestamp counts the seconds since 1 January 1970, 00:00 UTC. Databases, APIs and log files use it everywhere. Paste a timestamp to see the date in your own time zone, in UTC and in ISO 8601 format, or pick a date to get its timestamp.

10-digit values are read as seconds and 13-digit values as milliseconds automatically. The current Unix time ticks live at the top.

How to use the Unix Timestamp Converter

  1. To read a timestamp, paste it into Unix timestamp.
  2. To create one, choose a date and time and whether it is in your time zone or UTC.
  3. Copy the value you need.

How it works

Date = 1 January 1970 00:00:00 UTC + timestamp seconds. Values of 100,000,000,000 or more are treated as milliseconds. Your time zone comes from your device settings.

Examples

  • 1767225600 = 1 January 2026, 00:00:00 UTC (5:00 AM in Pakistan).
  • 1516239022000 (milliseconds) = 18 January 2018, 01:30:22 UTC.

Frequently asked questions

What is the year 2038 problem?

Old systems that store timestamps as 32-bit numbers overflow on 19 January 2038. Modern systems use 64-bit values and are not affected.

Do timestamps change with time zones?

No. A timestamp is the same everywhere; only the way it is displayed changes with the time zone.
