About the Hijri Date Converter

Find the Islamic (Hijri) date for any day — for Ramadan, Eid, Muharram, birthdays or historical events — or turn a Hijri date into the Gregorian calendar. Today's Hijri date is shown at the top in English and Urdu.

The tool uses the Umm al-Qura calendar of Saudi Arabia. In Pakistan, months begin when the moon is sighted (announced by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee), which is often one day later — choose the adjustment that matches your area. Actual dates for religious events depend on the official announcement.

How to use the Hijri Date Converter

  1. Choose Gregorian → Hijri or Hijri → Gregorian.
  2. Pick the date (or enter the Hijri day, month and year).
  3. Choose a moon-sighting adjustment if needed. The result updates instantly.

How it works

Dates are calculated with your browser's built-in Islamic calendar (Umm al-Qura, valid about 1924–2076). A Hijri year has 12 lunar months of 29 or 30 days — about 354 or 355 days — so Islamic dates move about 11 days earlier each Gregorian year. The adjustment shifts the start of every month by the chosen number of days.

Examples

  • 18 February 2026 = 1 Ramadan 1447 (Umm al-Qura); with “1 day later”, 1 Ramadan falls on 19 February.
  • 27 May 2026 = 10 Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 (Eid al-Adha, Umm al-Qura).
  • 8 October 2026 = 27 Rabi al-Thani 1448 (Umm al-Qura).

Frequently asked questions

Why is the date different from the calendar on my wall?

Printed calendars are prepared in advance; the actual start of each month depends on the moon sighting. Use the adjustment option, and follow the official announcement for Ramadan and Eid.
