About the Electricity Bill Calculator
See what your next bijli bill will be before it arrives. Enter the units used and whether you are a protected or un-protected consumer, and the calculator applies the NEPRA uniform tariff with every line of a real bill: energy charge, fixed charge per kW, FC surcharge, electricity duty, GST and PTV fee.
It also warns you when you are close to the next slab — for un-protected consumers, a few extra units can make the whole month more expensive, because all units are charged at the rate of the slab reached.
How to use the Electricity Bill Calculator
- Enter the units used this month (present reading − previous reading).
- Choose your consumer type as printed on the bill: un-protected, protected (200 units or less for the last 6 months) or lifeline.
- Optional: open More options to enter the sanctioned load (kW), the month's FPA, and your tax status.
- Click Calculate bill.
Formula
Un-protected: all units × the rate of the slab reached. Protected: first 100 units at the first rate and the rest at the second (benefit of one previous slab). Lifeline: all units at one rate.
Fixed charge = Rs per kW for the slab × sanctioned load. FC surcharge = units × Rs 3.23 (un-protected).
Electricity duty = 1.5% of (energy + fixed + FPA). GST = 18% of (energy + fixed + FPA + FC surcharge + duty). PTV fee Rs 35. Consumers not on the Active Taxpayer List pay 7.5% income tax when the bill is above Rs 25,000.
Examples
- 300 units, un-protected, no fixed charge: 300 × Rs 33.10 = Rs 9,930 energy + Rs 969 FC surcharge + Rs 149 duty + Rs 1,989 GST + Rs 35 PTV = about Rs 13,072.
- The same with a 2 kW sanctioned load (Rs 350 × 2 = Rs 700 fixed) → about Rs 13,910.
- 195 units, un-protected, 2 kW → about Rs 8,249; at 201 units it jumps to about Rs 9,608 — six more units cost Rs 1,359.
- 150 units, protected, 1 kW → 100 × 10.54 + 50 × 13.01 + Rs 300 fixed → about Rs 2,436.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my real bill different?
Real bills also include the monthly fuel price adjustment (FPA), quarterly adjustments, arrears and sometimes provincial duty differences. Enter the FPA from your bill under More options for a closer estimate.
What is a protected consumer?
A household that used 200 units or less in each of the last 6 months. Protected consumers pay much lower rates. Using more than 200 units in any month makes you un-protected for the next 6 months.
Is it the same for LESCO, IESCO, MEPCO and other companies?
Yes. The government notifies one uniform tariff for all distribution companies, so the same slab rates apply in Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, Faisalabad and elsewhere.
Are these rates up to date?
The calculator uses the tariff named above the form. Rates change after NEPRA decisions and budgets; the website owner updates them in the tool's settings.
