Encrypt & Decrypt Text

Lock a message with a password using AES-256 encryption — only someone with the password can read it.

I want to
The same password is needed to decrypt. If it is lost, the text cannot be recovered — by anyone.

Runs in your browser — your data never leaves your device.

About the Encrypt & Decrypt Text

Need to send a password, account details or a private note through email or chat? Encrypt it here with a password, send the encrypted text, and share the password another way — for example by phone. Only someone with the password can decrypt it.

Encryption uses AES-256-GCM, a modern standard used by banks and governments, through your browser's built-in Web Crypto. If the encrypted text is changed in any way, decryption fails instead of giving wrong text.

How to use the Encrypt & Decrypt Text

  1. Choose Encrypt, type your message and a strong password, then click Encrypt.
  2. Copy the result (it starts with WE1.) and send it.
  3. The receiver opens this page, chooses Decrypt, pastes the text and enters the password.

How it works

The key is derived from your password with PBKDF2-SHA-256 (310,000 iterations) and a random 16-byte salt. The message is encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a random 12-byte nonce. Output = WE1. + Base64(salt + nonce + ciphertext + authentication tag).

Examples

  • IBAN PK00 XXXX … encrypted with a password → a WE1. string that is safe to paste in WhatsApp; the password is shared by phone.

Frequently asked questions

What if I forget the password?

The text cannot be recovered — not by us or anyone else. Keep the password safe.

Is anything sent to your server?

No. Encryption and decryption happen entirely in your browser.
