Protect PDF

Add a password to a PDF so only people with the password can open it — AES-256, done in your browser.

Runs in your browser — your data never leaves your device.

    About the Protect PDF

Lock a PDF with a password before you email it or share it on WhatsApp — salary slips, bank statements, CNIC copies, contracts or exam papers. Anyone who opens the file must type the password first.

The PDF is encrypted with AES-256, the strongest standard PDF encryption, which works in Adobe Reader, Chrome, Edge, phones and every modern PDF reader. You can also stop printing, copying or editing.

How to use the Protect PDF

    1. Choose or drop the PDF.
    2. Type a password twice. Longer is safer — use a short sentence you can remember.
    3. Optional: open Permissions to stop printing, copying or editing.
    4. Click Protect PDF and send the password separately (for example by phone or SMS).

    How it works

The PDF is opened in your browser and saved again with PDF standard security, revision 6 (AES-256). Your password becomes the *user password* needed to open the file. A second, random *owner password* protects the permission settings. Nothing is sent to a server, so we never see the file or the password.

    Examples

    • A salary slip is protected with the employee's date of birth as the password before it is emailed.
    • A bank statement for a visa file is locked so it cannot be opened if the email is forwarded.

    Frequently asked questions

Can you recover my password if I forget it?

No. The encryption happens on your device and we never see the password, so it cannot be recovered. Keep a copy of the original PDF.

    Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is encrypted by your own browser and never leaves your device.

Will the protected PDF open on phones?

Yes. AES-256 PDF encryption is supported by Adobe Reader, Chrome, Edge, Safari and the PDF viewers on Android and iPhone.

Are print and copy restrictions secure?

They stop casual copying, but some PDF programs ignore them. The open password is the real protection — do not rely on restrictions alone for secrets.
